So what IS the bottom line? If you have been making calls, searching websites, or visiting long-term care facilities, you know that the cost of care varies greatly depending on the facility and its services. Moreover, many facilities will charge on a fee-for-service basis, which can be complicated and costly—also making it nearly impossible to budget for quality care.
At UP Family Care Home we don’t believe in “nickel-and-diming” our residents for our services. We want you to know exactly what you will be paying for month to month. That’s why each of our communities features an all-inclusive fee structure. The price covers housing, fully furnished rooms, all six Activities of Daily Living, three home-cooked meals and snacks, transportation, incontinence care, physical/occupational rehabilitation, and social activities—in short, everything.
Just as there are many kinds of long-term care services, there are also a variety of options for ensuring that you or your loved one receives the best care possible. Most of our residents use long-term care insurance, personal income and savings, life insurance, annuities and reverse mortgages to cover services.
Another option for qualified men and women is “VA Aid and Attendance,” which according to their website (http://www.americanveteransaid.com/) “was designed to provide financial assistant to help offset the cost of long-term care in an assisted living facility or for in-home care.” If you are a wartime veteran or a surviving spouse age 65 years or older, you may be entitled to this tax-free benefit. To be sure, contact us at 704-249-7718 for eligibility information.
We hope this information is helpful as you plan for your own long-term care or the care of your loved one. We are available to answer any question or show you our communities.
